My biggest beef with back pain books and articles is their limited and narrow thinking. The majority of the literature available for back pain sufferers looks at back pain from one angle and one angle only, claiming to have found the “cure-all” for your aching spine. While many therapists will point to muscle imbalances or physical tension as the back pain culprit, Jesse Cannone goes further and includes dietary deficiencies and mental or emotional stress in his diagnostic arsenal. I am most impressed by his (very accurate) assertion that no one thing is the entire source of your back pain. For example, emotional stress related to a death in the family, divorce or a change in jobs can be the final straw that tweaks the ever-present muscle imbalance you’ve been harboring for years, creating a debilitating back spasm.
This book is also easy to read with lots of actionable advice and links to audio interviews, additional articles and helpful videos. If you currently suffer from physical pain – back pain, neck pain, knee pain, sciatic nerve pain, etc. – or want to avoid it as you grow older, you definitely need to grab a copy of this book.
