Do you wake up with full body aches in the morning?
Trust me, it’s nothing you did while you were asleep. Achy muscles happen because of a build up of systemic inflammation inside your body.
Inflammation is a normal biproduct of all the processes happening 24/7. Your cells are constantly breaking down and building up, rebuilding your bones and muscles and replenishing your blood.
As you age, you start to lose enzymes that clean up excess inflammation. Also, processed foods like white flour, sugar, chemical additives, and anything that has been hyper-processed (a.k.a. anything that’s not a whole, natural food) increases inflammation.
But, the good news is that you can easily clean up this toxic spill in your cells. A body that is full of inflammation is also very acidic. I’m not talking about the acid in your stomach – that’s good, and necessary to digest food.
I’m talking about the fluids that bathe your cells. This fluid brings nutrition to your cells and sweeps waste products away. If it’s full of inflammatory proteins, then your cells start to get damaged.
Green vegetables are extremely alkalizing. Adding a heaping portion of them to your diet will substantially decrease inflammation and make you feel much more comfortable.
But eating a ton of veggies can be tough. They get all slimy in your fridge if you don’t get to them quickly enough, and, let’s face it, how many salads can you choke down each day?
I’ve got your solution…green juice. I’d heard theories about green juice reducing inflammation and increasing flexibility, but it took going on a five day juice cleanse to show me how dramatically it can change your muscles.
I hadn’t even realized that my neck and back were stiff and achy every morning when I woke up, but on the juice cleanse I woke up pain-free and energetic every single morning.
Of course, it’s really important to note that I’m not talking about store-bought juices. Those are so highly processed that they’re mostly sugar and completely devoid of vitamins and minerals. You want freshly made juice from organic produce, preferably, so you’re not ingesting cancer-causing chemical pesticides.
Does downing a concoction of green veggies sound like your worst nightmare? I used to have to choke down the juice, knowing it was good for me but hating the taste. Over the years, I refined the recipe and got it perfected to a delicious brew that I actually love to drink!
Here’s my favorite recipe:
2 Granny Smith apples
1 tsp or a little more of fresh ginger
1/2 bunch green, leafy kale
2 cups spinach
5 stalks celery
Process all ingredients through a blender and drink immediately so that none of the vital nutrients are lost.
